Hi. My name is Josip.

I am a founder, computer scientist and software developer from Croatia. I share my life with a wonderful partner and two great kids.

I like math, algorithms and biology. In my limited free time I like to listen to music, read books and play football.

Flabbergast

I run Flabbergast, a design and software development company from Zagreb.

For five years, my Flabbergast team worked on World App. I was the No. 1 contributor to the World iOS app and led a software engineering team of 15 people. During that time, World grew from zero to 30 million users.

Today, we are mostly focused on building our own products, especially agentic software.

Bioinformatics

I am finishing a PhD in bioinformatics, where my work focuses on metagenomics, long-read sequencing and algorithms.

In 2024, I co-authored “Comparative analysis of metagenomic classifiers for long-read sequencing datasets”, published in BMC Bioinformatics. The evaluator and benchmark code for that research is available on GitHub.

Right now, I am working on my own long read metagenomics classifier.

Naš Hajduk

I have been a member of the Naš Hajduk citizens association since 2013 and a volunteer since 2016. During that period, I was the solo iOS app contributor to the Naš Hajduk app.
